Start wherever suits. There is no progression to follow and nothing is graded — plenty of solvers stay on the easy puzzles because they find them relaxing, which is a perfectly good reason.

What makes a printable puzzle senior-friendly
Letter size first, and by a distance. A grid printed at newspaper size is not a difficulty setting, it is a barrier — and visual strain is very often mistaken for losing interest.
Contrast second: solid black letters on plain white paper, with no background tint, no watermark and no decorative border crowding the grid.
Then the number of decisions per page. A 10×10 grid with twelve words asks far less of a solver than an 18×18 with thirty, even though both are "a word search". Directions matter too — words that never run backwards make for a noticeably calmer puzzle.
And finally, answers that are easy to reach. Every PDF here carries its key on page two, so nobody has to go hunting for a solutions page or take our word for it.

On paper, word searches and crosswords are the two most popular, with word searches being the more forgiving of the pair — nothing is ever wrong, and a puzzle can be picked up and put down freely. Whichever you choose, large, high-contrast print makes more difference to whether it gets finished than the puzzle type does.

How do I print these so the letters stay large?
Download the PDF and print at 100% scale. Avoid "fit to page" or "shrink to fit", which reduce the grid by a few percent and take the edge off the large print. US Letter is the native size and A4 works just as well.
