What makes a word search "jumbo"
Jumbo is about the letters, not the page. Every printable here is the same US Letter sheet — the difference is how many letters get squeezed onto it. A 12×12 grid gives each letter roughly twice the area it would get in the 20×20 grids most printable word searches use, so it prints well over half an inch tall and reads cleanly at arm's length.
That is also why the word lists are shorter. Twelve words on a jumbo grid is not us being stingy; it is the arithmetic of keeping letters big on a page that does not grow.
Jumbo, giant or extra large?
These three names get used interchangeably around the web, which is unhelpful when you are trying to buy or print the right thing. Here they mean specific things: jumbo is the middle option, giant is a big grid rather than big letters, and extra large print is the one to choose if reading is the hard part.
Which size should you print?
Every puzzle here prints on one US Letter sheet — what changes is how many letters share it. Fewer letters means each one prints larger.
Frequently asked questions
How do I print these jumbo word searches?
Click "Download PDF" under either puzzle for a print-ready US Letter file (the answer key is included as page two), or click "Print" to send it straight to your printer. Both print well on A4 too. Print at 100% scale — avoid "fit to page", which can shrink the grid.
How large is the print in these puzzles?
Each grid is 12 × 12 letters on a full page, so letters print roughly half an inch tall — far larger than a newspaper puzzle. Everything uses the Atkinson Hyperlegible typeface, designed by the Braille Institute for low-vision readers.
How hard are these puzzles?
Words run across, down and diagonally, but never backwards. There are 24 words to find across 2 puzzles, and every answer key is free with the PDFs.
Can I photocopy these puzzles for a group?
Yes — print and photocopy them freely for your family, classroom, library, activity group or care home. That is exactly what they are for.
